Attorney Chung Kyung-hwan is a specialist in fair trade law. He passed the bar exam in 2001 and graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute in 2004 (33rd class). After serving as a public service legal officer, he worked as an attorney at KCL Law Firm from 2007 to 2017 before joining Barun Law, where he continues to focus on fair trade law.

Attorney Chung Kyung-hwan has set precedents in landmark cartel cases, such as the instant noodle price-fixing case and the life insurance cartel case. In addition, he has successfully represented businesses in administrative litigation related to prohibited activities and unfair support practices by major trade associations, achieving favorable rulings. He has also delivered positive outcomes in numerous fair trade cases, including defending clients in cartel investigations involving air freight operators and duty-free operators, resulting in acquittals.

In 2023, Attorney Chung received the "Korea Legal Award" in the litigation category. He actively participates in various activities, including serving as a member of the Open Market Dispute Mediation Council.

Fair Trade

- Represented Nongshim Co., Ltd. in a ramen noodle collusion case and successfully attained a ruling cancelling all measures set out by the Korea Fair Trade Commission

- Represented company F in a fuel charge collusion case where 26 airline companies were involved and successfully persuaded the court to find company F not guilty of the charges

- Represented Soribada in a collusion case involving music download companies and successfully persuaded the court to find Soribada not guilty of the charges

- Represented a Kyobo Life Insurance in a collusion case involving life insurance companies and attained a ruling cancelling the measures set out by the Korea Fair Trade Commission (non-prosecution disposition)

- Represented company S, a manufacturer of glass tableware and attained a ruling cancelling the measures initially set out by the Korea Fair Trade Commission for unreasonable advertising

- Conducted consultancy service for a food manufacturer concerning intercompany transactions

- Conducted consultancy service for company M, a auto parts manufacturer concerning compliance with the Fair Transactions in Subcontracting Act

- Represented the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants in a case involving alleged unfair trade practices (prohibited business association conduct), resulting in a court decision revoking the Korea Fair Trade Commission's disposition

- Successfully represented Qualcomm in a Korea Fair Trade Commission case concerning abuse of market dominance

- Conducted services of filing reports of business combination, reports of incorporation of or conversion to holding company, etc.

- Conducted numerous cases including providing advice on fair trade-related cases, responding to KFTA investigations, administrative lawsuits, civil lawsuits, mediation with the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency

- Conducted numerous matters including civil damages litigation related to fair trade cases, mediation proceedings before the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency, and responses to mandatory accusation deliberations by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Public Procurement Service, as well as related advisory work
